Orlando Art Museum - 1st Thursdays ~ 6pm-9pm. “Orlando’s original art party” is the award-winning 1st Thursdays presented by the Associates, the OMA’s volunteer support group committed to expanding OMA membership and encouraging the appreciation of the visual arts. From 6 - 9 pm on the first Thursday of each month, OMA showcases a new theme with works by local artists, live music, cash bars serving wine, beer and soft drinks, and café offerings from area restaurants.

Admission to 1st Thursdays is free for OMA members, $10 for non-members, and includes access to the OMA's featured exhibitions. Parking is free at Orlando Loch Haven Park

Winter Park Playhouse - Spotlight Cabaret $20 (includes a drink) ~7:30pm. A fun entertainment option at The Winter Park Playhouse is their Spotlight Series of cabarets in the beautiful lobby piano bar. Enjoy an assortment of beverages from the Tuscan inspired mahogany bar while experiencing “NewYork style” cabaret. Each show is approximately 50 minutes in length and features a fabulous singer and pianist

Food Trucks on Orlando Eats- There is a new baby on the block and she is SwedeDISH.

The newest food truck to hit the Orlando Food Truck venue is here and I am happy to announce that it brings more international food to us locals.  SwedeDISH offers a sampling of Swedish traditional dishes, some which are hundreds of years old, even centuries old and are still part of Swedish everyday meals today.

The Swedish cuisine is more than just meatballs, it is flavorful and savory.  They even have a vegetarian selection: Ost & lok paj med gronsallad, or cheese and sweet onion pastry pie with a fresh salad dressed with a blend of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and Swedish spices (priced only for $5 for their lunch menu). Yum!


A friend of mine bragged about how tasty the Laxpudding med ortsas-- Salmon casserole (lox, potatoes, onion, leek, dill, egg & milk with an herb sauce).

And I sent to heaven momentarily when I plopped a Chokladbollar – Coconut Covered Chocolate Ball in my mouth. What appeared dense and heavy was the opposite. It was light and delicate, slightly sweetened chocolate with the crisp textures and flavors of shaved coconut.

Food Trucks-Orlando Eats

There is a new food trend in Orlando and it is on wheels! Food trucks. And now there is an event to celebrate them-The Food Truck Bazaar.  The event was free to attend, but not free to eat, with each truck charging their own low prices for unique cuisine.

What to expect- Over 20 trucks are gathered up once a month for a giant Sunday dinner in a family friendly atmosphere.  Lines have been long but atmosphere festive.

How to enjoy the Food truck Bring chairs, tables, tents and friends. Most trucks take credit but do bring cash just in case. Trucks serving include food trucks like: Big Wheel Provisions featuring local ingredients and more upscale cuisine, The Crooked Spoon,  Red Eye BBQ, The Taco Lady, The Yum Yum Cupcake Truck, and Korean BBQ Taco Box.
