Florida is among the top five states that spend the most on housing, just below California and Hawaii. And it is the top state on rental costs.
Thirty-eight percent of homeowners paid 30 percent or more for housing, up slightly from 37.6 percent in 2009. The following are the states with the highest percentages of homeowners who spent 30 percent or more on housing in 2010:
California: 51.20%
Hawaii: 50.20%
Florida: 48.80%
New Jersey: 46.70%
Nevada: 45.20%

Florida: 60.40%
California: 57.20%
Hawaii: 56.20%
